The Hunger Games was disturbingly excellent. Or excellently disturbing. It was both.

Tired. Hopefully I’ll get round to making some more autobiographical comics soon. For now, here’s a marker doodle of some film noir-esque chain smoker.

Avoid watching a play with me at all costs.

As I get older, my dreams seem to be getting better at developing rational storylines. They’re hardly ever reality - they’re nearly always set on the back of a giant turtle or in a hallway made of doors or something - but I always manage to have some reasonable conversations in them.

We Built This City - Starship

The irony is, there aren’t many songs that sound less like rock ‘n roll …

BUT I DON’T CARE I STILL LOVE IT.

Me Again

I can’t help but notice I only get round to updating this bloody thing once in a new moon. And even when I do, I figure it’s not very good at saying what’s actually going on in my life. So for lack of a better opening, here’s what’s been going on.

  • Since September I’ve been attending Nottingham University. Nottingham as a place is okay. The campus is beautiful with its rolling hills and the Downs and the lake, and the city centre is quite pretty, but what I’ve seen of the rest of it isn’t much to write home about. I started off describing the place as a jewel-encrusted turd but that might be a little harsh - it’s really not that bad. Right now, I’m living in the ghetto corner of Nottingham with a spectacular window view of a brick wall. But that’s okay, I’ve managed to turn my room into my own personal little nest which I’m quite pleased with. And next year, I’ll be living in a lovely lovely house with a lovely lovely person.
  • In the last five months or so, I’ve had the luck to find friends in some wonderful people, too many to name here. The thing about uni is even though there’s such a sea of humanity and it seems so daunting to try to find your place, as soon as you do, you find troves and troves of amazing guys and gals. I reckon the Improv lot deserve a mention here. The Improv folks are some of the sharpest, funniest and kindest people I’ve had the fortune to meet. I used to think I was pretty quick with a quip, but honestly, around those guys I feel like a small fish in a big pond.
  • I’ve been in too many performances since I’ve been here. I’ve done three things in the Fresher’s Fringe, sketches I’ve written with a far more talented Ben, radio shows, radio plays, Improv gigs, the musical (where I was a New York mob boss, damn typecasting), the full on improvised play The Hamlet, and I’ve got The 39 Steps in May and Edinburgh in the Summer which is going to be amazing. I’ve also done posters for two theatre shows and been asked to do four more.

So that’s what’s been going on! Stuff has been super busy. And busy is great.
